“Care provider was initially curt...”

Care provider was initially curt and entered the room with "why are you here and seeing your care provider?" ( note my primary had told me with some of my symptoms It wouldn't be a bad Idea to get rechecked by the cardiologist) Care provider seemed annoyed, I felt his tone of voice was condescending and he was placating me with ordering any further testings. However, before I was to leave, he listened to my heart and heard I actually did have at least some sort of issue going on and his tone changed. he seemed more caring.

I was made to feel like I was wasting his time. He even stated "I don't know why you are here". I was there for cardiac clearance for a shoulder replacement. I am 71 years old and retired OR nurse. If a patient came to my facility at this age for this surgery I would surely look for an EKG. None was even offered. My surgery would have been canceled had no EKG been done. Instead my PCP did one in her office when I went for my H and P. His treatment of me as a patient was unacceptable and I will think long and hard if I will ever return to this practice. Another practitioner treated me the same way in January when I went for cardiac clearance for a surgery in March. He even stated that for clearance they only ask questions. No EKG was offered. I could have had new A-fib for all they knew.

I was very impressed that this provider had read my complete history before coming in to see me and knew everything relevant to my care.
