“Never going back”
I came to Dr. Attardo needing a simple teeth cleaning. I thought I might have the beginnings of a cavity in a right upper tooth as there was some moderate sensitivity with chewing. After the first visit with him, I was told I did not have any cavities, but was losing tooth at the gum line from grinding (I have been experiencing spinal troubles and chronic pain and must be grinding at night). He told me I needed a mouth guard. I returned to get my upper teeth covered in enamel that was rough, chipping off and uncomfortable. His assistant was gracious, kind and helpful, as was his secretary. But when I asked him about the mouth guard, he claimed he was waiting for a response from me, which was completely untrue. Then he said he would have to see if my insurance would pay for it and would get back with me on it. He never let me know, either way. When I came back in to have the upper and lower treatment on the left side, I told him my troubles with the treatment. He sanded them down and they were somewhat more comfortable. When he did a similar treatment for my left side, both upper and lower, he took two phone calls in the middle of the procedure (there was no assistant and no secretary present). After that, my teeth were sensitive and literally ached. I was unable to chew on the left side at all, and chewing on my right was painful. I went back in complaining of these difficulties and he admonished me that he tells all patients there will be some discomfort after procedures , but this was 2 1/2 weeks later, and it seemed like excessive pain. He administered what he called clear nail polish on my teeth (with the help of an assistant) and sent me on my way. Months later, I can still barely chew with my left side, flossing is painful, and a number of my teeth on the left hand side are tender when pressure is applied. Pretty sure he's ruined my mouth (I've always been a diligent tooth brusher, floss regularly, and have been proud of the condition of my teeth. I haven't had a cavity in 38 years.) I think this dentist is antiquated in practice and has a pretty awful bedside manner. I will not ever go back, and am at this point wary of Rochester dentists because of this.
