June 13, 1997, a Friday. Luckiest day of my life.

On June 12, 1997, Dr. Peter Napoli performed a quadruple bypass on me and I consider it the luckiest day of my life. I was 56 years old and about 2 months away from my 57th birthday, Aug 2.

That was 16 years ago this past summer. A month ago I had my third nuclear stress test and my heart is in excellent condition. I am now 73, ride a motorcycle (which I started doing after the heart attack and surgery) and look forward to living my life until God takes me.

My primary physician is amazed at how clear my bypass is and how long it's been.

I've always credited Dr. Napoli and my cardiologist, Dr. Michael Mitchell, for saving my life and making me healthy, again. Both those doctors are no longer in San Angelo TX, and, honestly, I cried when I found out they were leaving. Dr. Mitchell told me that after major surgery I'd probably be more emotional. I guess I am. But, due to the care of Dr. Napoli and his skill as a surgeon, I've had no heart problems, none whatsoever.

My heart problems were genetic. I had no pain, just a weird feeling in my throat. I waited two days to see a doctor. I was lucky.

If ever I had to have that surgery repeated, I'd hope Dr. Napoli could do it again. And give me years more of good living. ~Larry D Syler, San Angelo TX.
