Infectious Diseases and International Travel Health – International Travel Clinic
Within the ECU Health Adult Specialty Care - Infectious Disease Clinic, we house an International Travel Clinic. Travel to some countries can put a traveler at risk of diseases. Before visiting countries where mosquito control, water and sewer systems, and general hygiene differ from those in the United States, it is wise to take some precautionary measures.
Providers in the International Travelers Clinic will evaluate the country-specific health risks, prescribe medications, and administer immunizations to ensure, to the greatest extent possible, your safe travel abroad. Utilizing the most up-to-date resources, we match prevention with your destination country or region.
The clinic is a North Carolina State Department of Health-designated center for the FDA-approved yellow fever vaccine.

How far in advance should I schedule my visit?
We are not a full-time travel clinic and have limited slots on Friday mornings only. Therefore, visits do fill up quickly and are offered on a first-come- first-serve basis. Your visit should take place 4-8 weeks prior to your trip so please call as soon as you know you are traveling so the visit can be scheduled far enough in advance prior to your trip.
Scheduling an Appointment
Please contact our clinic at 252-744-4500 to schedule your visit. We will need your complete itinerary (dates of travel with all cities and countries you are planning to visit) to compile your travel packet prior to your visit. Please also bring vaccine records, Yellow card (if you have one already) and a list of medications.
