The doctor was very kind and professional. Not sure if it was avoidable, but we were sent to the ER for treatment because it was an open fracture. The ER doctor said that the wound could have been taken care of at urgent care since it was not the kind of open fracture requiring specialized care. The admission person at ER was surprised that we had not been given antibiotics at urgent care, since urgent care diagnosed an open fracture. This was all a bit confusing. It would have been nice to have had it all taken care of at urgent care instead of going to the ER, but maybe it did require the expertise of the ER doctor. It all worked out in the end.
