“My AFib problem is sort of compl...”
My AFib problem is sort of complex in that I also have some heart function (ejection fraction) considerations as well as hyperthyroidism issues. Because of the heart function, it makes taking diltiazem problematic, and because of the hyperthyroidism, it makes taking amiodarone inadvisable. So Dr Gupta has recommended treating my AFib with rate control using primarily metoprolol. After my upcoming ECHO, if my ejection fraction fraction has improved, he may once again restart me on diltiazem in addition to metoprolol. Dr Gupta has explained the various treatment options with me very well. He and his NP [...] have been very good at communicating with me, and adjusting my meds occasionally based on my reported side effects, heart rates and personal KARDIA ecg strips that I forward to them via MyChart.
