I was very apprehensive about the future mitral valve repair even though my cardiologist told me that Dr. Lawrie was the best. After speaking with Dr. Lawrie, I felt no anxiety at all. He explained everything thoroughly, answered all of our questions and was so caring. It was a wonderful experience. I came into the appointment believing that I needed surgery right away. We were told exactly what my numbers were for left ventricle enlargement compared to the number requiring immediate surgery. In addition, we learned that a cardiovascular MRI could give a much more accurate measure of the leakage of my mitral valve than the echocardiogram that I had at my cardiologist's. We were happy that Dr. Lawrie wanted the most accurate information to determine whether I need a repair now. The MRI orders were ready before we left the office.

His explanations as to what I can expect should I go through open-heart surgery as well as his ability to answer my questions and concerns greatly alleviated my worries concerning my future medical needs.
