“Dr Hamilton was unprecedentedly ...”
Dr Hamilton was unprecedentedly lacking in empathy and compassion. She was cold and extremely rude. While less than a year out of fellowship, this physician thinks she knows all from due to her imaging fellowship when the reality is she could use an additional fellowship in patient care. To elaborate - when Dr. Hamilton was asked by myself, the patient, how bad does the laparoscopy hurt? Out of fear of the surgery, her response was "It hurts especially for patients like you. With patients that have pain going into the surgery we tend to have a very hard time with pain control post-op." I did not appreciate this treatment as the provider knew I have a history of medical trauma from complex lupus procedures and treatments. Additionally, given the severity of my pain, I requested Dr. Hamilton do my ultrasound as opposed to the fellow. At this time, she sighed and immediately called in a nurse as a fourth party in the room without giving any context. While I understand institutional protections are important, so is the patient experience. To add another person to an intimate exam under these circumstances without any explination was very uncomfortable and poorly recieved. Lastly, when asked about her findings given the stark difference vs the other excision specialist's findings, Dr. Hamilton was not comfortable explaining herself without getting defensive. This provider did not want to be bothered. It was very clear that she is incredibly green and needs additional training in compassionate care as well as patient communication. Her bedside manner is awful and left me in tears. I was punished by her pain tangent due to her annoyance at the inconvenience of scanning me herself. As a result of the care I recieved from Dr. Hamilton, I will no longer be planning to have surgery with Cedars.
Comment - “ Dr Hamilton really took her time... ”
Dr Hamilton really took her time to explain everything and listen to what I had to say.
