“Expert and compassionate care”

Several people referred me to Dr. Guttmann and I am grateful he took me on as a patient. He carefully explained my X-rays and MRI and made a resultant recommendation for a reverse shoulder replacement. I had actually 3 Dr for my surgery in Taos, each expert and headed by Dr Guttmann as my surgery was fairly complicated. He explained every step before and after in my follow up care. I especially appreciated his calling me at home to check on me. I thought the hospital experience was also excellent despite being a small hospital. I was given a nerve block for the drive back to Santa Fe so I had no plain. Surprisingly, with the ice and compression machine, I only needed Tylenol for pain. He recommended PT Plus for my physical therapy which I began the same week as my surgery. It was an excellent choice and he was in touch with my therapist on my program and progress. I now after 6 mo have excellent range of motion and am back to hiking and traveling. I recommend him and his staff highly!

Dr. Guttmann was refreshingly conservative in his diagnosis. I had a choice to decline surgery in favor of PT and exercises. He wasn't eager to operate in my case. I was very pleased to hear his options, and am pleased with the outcome.

Dr. Guttman suggested a stem cell injection on my injured shoulder. The specimen is collected from maternal birth. He suggested 3 months of physical therapy to coordinate with the injection. Overall it is very successful, less pain and more movement.
