“I could write a novel about Dr. ...”
I could write a novel about Dr. Siefe. Suffice it to say, she is somehow able to provide the type of competent, curious, and engaged care that was the standard just a few decades ago but is nearly impossible to find now. I have spent the last 15 months trying to navigate what feels like a sudden cascade of significant health problems after being reasonably healthy prior. Across 7 generalists and specialty providers, I've felt seen and supported by one prior to Dr. Siefe. ANd I was recently Informed by her practice that's she's on Indefinite leave - no other details. I did not come into this appointment hopeful and I left with more hope than I've had in a very long time. Instead of saying appointments need to focus on a single issue, she just started checking boxes and encouraged me to keep sharing concerns as we moved through each and formulated an overall plan that looks at the comprehensive picture of my health.Instead of discouraging MyChart use due to billing implications, she volunteered that she's readily available (then demonstrated it when I woke up to resulted labs that she had already sent me a message about. As a high functioning neurodivergent woman, I expect my needs and preferences to be disregarded even if I express them and I am rarely surprised. I said once at the start of the appointment that written communications provide me with processing time and the ability to revisit; complex explanations when I'm anxious are difficult for me to retain. Dr. Siefe immediately demonstrated exactly the right level of detail and assured me she'd send me home with documentation to read. My AVS was over 20 pages.I work for another healthcare system. Dr. Siefe, the office staff, and the clinical support team at this practice ARE the model, and should provide encouragement and motivation to other providers that it is still possible.
