Summary
The normal healing process can be disrupted for many reasons and some wounds can take months to heal, increasing the risk of infection, limb loss, even\nthe loss of life. If a wound or an ulcer has not started to heal within a month or has not healed entirely in two months, you may have what is called a "chronic" or "non-healing" wound. There are many factors that can cause a wound to become chronic, and there are many types of wounds. At a Sentara Wound Healing Center, healing wounds is our main focus. Our team of experienced wound healing specialists will work with you and your physician to assess your symptoms, determine the underlying cause of your non-healing wound, and customize the most effective treatment plan to stimulate healing.
