Boston Children’s Hospital’s Walsh Laboratory Research program focuses on understanding the genetics and molecular biology of human brain development and neurological disease. Led by internationally recognized neurologist and geneticist Christopher A. Walsh, MD, PhD, the laboratory studies how the cerebral cortex develops and how genetic changes contribute to conditions such as autism, epilepsy, intellectual disability, microcephaly, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Using advanced genomics, neuroscience, stem cell biology, and molecular research techniques, the lab investigates the genetic mechanisms that shape brain structure, function, and evolution. Through groundbreaking translational research and global collaborations, the Walsh Laboratory contributes to discoveries that improve the diagnosis, understanding, and future treatment of complex neurological diseases in children and adults.
