Your Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders Team

Understanding that movement disorders impact various aspects of life, our clinic provides a comprehensive care approach by integrating neurology, neuropsychologists and other professionals who have depths of experience working with patients with Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. Our team collaborates on treatment plans, ensuring comprehensive and patient-centered care that focuses on maximizing mobility, independence and quality of life.

Comprehensive Evaluations for Movement Disorders

Because no two cases are alike, our neurologists understand that “state-of-the-art” treatment could mean a new exercise regimen for one person, medication for another and surgery for another. The key to determining the most effective treatment plan is to complete a comprehensive evaluation to understand the individualized needs of each person.

A comprehensive evaluation is the gold standard for diagnosing Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Our experienced treatment team partners with your family or caregivers to complete the evaluation using some or all of the following tests:

  • Health and family history

  • Neuropsychological testing

  • Manual motor testing

  • Videotaping

  • Imagine tests (i.e., MRI, CT and PET scans, electroencephalograms [EEGs] and DaTSCAN)

  • Laboratory studies

Once your provider has identified your current needs, they will work with you on a management and treatment plan.

The Academic Difference

At UofL Health, our providers are more than just doctors—they are also researchers and educators, helping train the next generation of medical professionals at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Through this collaboration, our providers work to discover new treatments and cures. Our research and clinical trials concerning Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders help our patients access treatment options that are not otherwise available.
