There's good experiences in medicine and then there are bad ones. This one was good.

I will admit. I am the husband of a tech who works in the department. I think my wife made a stink about getting my report read. He contacted me directly and well; I sorta understand the positive reviews now

He saved my life.

I'm pretty young and have a rare disease. He saved my life. Talked to me about a clot in my leg and how he wanted to scan my chest. He had me cut other patients and stated it was necessary because my case was urgent. Well it was. My chest was full of PEs. They said I would have been dead if they didn't catch it earlier. I'm still alive right now because of the ED rads department at Mass Gen.

Um... sorta oddly amazing experience.

Wish my own doctor explained things as well as this bro.

Contrast reaction

I got a CT and started feeling my throat itch. He came in immediately and said "I can either give you an epi pen right now, or I can tell you a joke and we can see if this thing passes. I'd prefer to tell you the joke"... I let him tell me the joke. It was a wacky way of snapping me out of stress and having a nervous breakdown, but it worked. He then talked with me for 5 minutes about life and left as I returned to the ER. It's fun to know that the people reading our imaging actually care.

Review is sort of misleading (please don't hate me!) I am a coworker and he is one of the best.

I'm a tech. So easy to deal with, friendly and on top of everything. And works non-stop. We haven't met fellows like this for quite a while. Cheers Dr. Hatkoff!
