Dr. Maiberger is Fantastic

My primary care physician told me I needed a tonsillectomy after chronic tonsil issues for the past year. He gave me a referral, but when I met that doctor and saw the hospital, I felt really uncomfortable. A colleague of mine had some serious health problems a year ago and had strongly recommended that I go to Sibley Hospital for any major treatments, should I need them. As my surgery date grew near, I became more uneasy. I decided to see if I could find a Sibley affiliated doctor that was in my insurance network. I happened on Dr. Maiberger's name and he seemed to have good reviews, so I called. They were able to see me the next day. Dr. Maiberger was absolutely fantastic. He was kind and explained everything carefully. He even gave me a call the night before the surgery to check in and make sure I had his cell number. I was sure glad he did later, as I had to call him on his cell three times - once on a Friday evening when his staff had said he was out of town - during my recovery. He answered my calls (or called me back within minutes) and immediately addressed my questions or called in needed prescriptions. Recovering from such a surgery (I'm 30, and this is not a fun surgery to have as an adult) is always difficult, but this doctor was consistently there for me. As I had been doing research before and after this surgery, I came across countless stories of adult tonsillectomy patients who couldn't even get a hold of their doctors or had very slow responses after the surgery. That is the polar opposite of my experience, thanks to the fact that Dr. Maiberger genuinely cares about his patients. I couldn't give him a higher recommendation. If you are looking for an excellent otolaryngologist in the DC area, he's it.
