Dear Reader,
Dr. Sivaraman Sivaswami is the most caring, compassionate, and skillful medical surgeon I have been treated by - in the medical field.
I want to take you back to 1997, when I had a foot corn in my left pinky toe. It used to hurt very much when I walked, wearing shoes. Dr. Sivaraman Sivaswami (who was an MD-intern at the Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) at the time) alleviated all my concerns regarding my recovery and ability (or lack thereof) to focus on my job, post-operation.
The way he went about first preparing me for the operation theatre led me to be assured of his credentials on paper, and in person. He set expectations as to the scope of the surgery on my toe, and cogently, coherently, and concisely explained to me the advantages of undergoing surgery on that toe.
He personally took me from my home to the operation theatre in SIUH, all the while consoling me as to my predicament. After administering local anesthesia, he, then, performed the operation to rid my pinky toe of the "corn," all the while making sure I did not feel - in the slightest - feel any pain, or trauma during the operation.
After the operation, he helped my shield my left pinky toe with some Dr. Scholl's cushion, so I would have little discomfort when I walked and went about my daily duties. In this way, he helped me recover quickly.
I have, since, never felt a recurrence of the corn on my toe, and am able to go about my daily duties with aplomb.
If anybody needs Dr. Sivaraman Sivaswami's care, be rest assured, you are in good hands.
It is easy to take for granted all the help provided to me all those days ago. I hope this reminiscence will so some way towards righting that wrong.
