Ms. Terri Walker, LCSW-Primary Location
I discovered many of my patients were coping with symptoms of PTSD, including anxiety and panic. Because there is no cure, some of them could not be helped. Spending my free time researching interventions, I discovered Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) sometimes referred to as “eye movement therapy”. Initially, I was hesitant because it was different and although it appeared to be successful it was a different approach to helping reduce symptoms of PTSD.
A colleague recommended a therapist routinely using EMDR in her practice, so I went to see for myself. It worked to eliminate the anxiety and frustration of an issue present in my everyday life. I waited because I was sure the issue would come back. It hasn't returned and it's been 6 years.
At the time, it seemed like a miracle and I knew this would help my patients.
