Excellent Mt. Sinai Neurosurgeon

I am writing to highly recommend Dr. Todd Lasner, neurosurgeon at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, Florida. Although I was in a very unfortunate car accident, I was extremely fortunate to have Dr. Lasner as my neurosurgeon. In fact, I owe my future to Dr. Lasner because I could have been paralyzed or otherwise, at a minimum, permanently disabled if it were not for his quick, caring and well-thought-out medical treatment.

While I still have a ways to go in terms of my recovery, I would be in far worse condition today if it were not for Dr. Lasner and his compassionate team of health care professionals. I cannot thank Dr. Lasner enough.

A disc in my lumbar spine burst causing excruciating pain to my entire body and severe nerve damage to my leg. Dr. Lasner kindly and patiently listened to what had happened to me, but more important quickly and accurately diagnosed my injury, which required emergency surgery. He was with me in the emergency room, the last person that I saw in the pre-op room, and the first person that I saw when I woke up in the recovery room after the surgery.

Without his knowledge, expertise and experience, my injury could have easily spread to both of my legs and caused much worse damage including paralysis. Instead, as a result of the major surgery that Dr. Lasner expertly performed, I immediately recovered the major functions in my leg. With his careful planning of my post surgery recovery, I continue to make gains in physical therapy.

In addition to my leg injury, I suffered a severe impairment to my entire cervical spine, which also required surgery to stabilize my vertebrae and to alleviate nerve damage to my arm and hands. It is remarkable to me, as a lay person with no medical background, that Dr. Lasner was able to patiently listen to me describe my symptoms, conduct the necessary tests, carefully study my situation, accurately diagnose my injury, and most importantly, promptly perform the very lengthy and intricate surgery that largely relieved the damage to my arm and hands. My surgery lasted longer than an entire normal workday, and Dr. Lasner was there for me from beginning to end. Of course, with any such serious injury, I must complete occupational therapy, but I continue to make excellent progress thanks to Dr. Lasner’s care and follow up.

Either of these major injuries and surgeries would be frightening to even the bravest of souls, but Dr. Lasner and his staff was very understanding and empathetic with me. I am far from an easy patient. The word patience would never be used to describe me as a patient. Even so, they listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions before, during and after both surgeries. Despite the negative circumstance under which we met, Dr. Lasner and his team worked hard to make sure that I had a positive experience.

While Dr. Lasner, in and of himself, is an extremely well-educated and skillful neurosurgeon, one of the advantages of choosing him as your surgeon is that you also receive the services of Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Chief of Neurosurgery Dr. Allen Kantrowitz and the entire department’s professionals including remarkable physician assistants and pleasant office staff.

I certainly hope anyone who reads this recommendation does not have the misfortune of experiencing the kind of auto accident that I did, but no matter what the cause, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having the best possible neurosurgeon – Dr. Todd Lasner. It makes a tremendous difference in the treatment of and recovering from whatever neurological issues and symptoms you might be experiencing. While there are never any guarantees when it comes to surgery, I would never consider a critically important medical intervention such as neurosurgery without Dr. Lasner and his entire team of medical professionals.
