The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at MedStar Health provides services in all areas essential to support both large metropolitan acute care hospitals and community-based hospitals. Pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease through examination of organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and whole bodies (autopsies). Laboratory medicine encompasses all of the tests performed on blood and urine, transfusion medicine, and microbiology.
Our program offers comprehensive clinical and anatomical pathology laboratories at all of our MedStar Health hospitals. We value our strong connection between academic excellence, education, and clinical research activities.
