Boston Children’s Hospital’s DART Lab (Laboratory for Digital Assessment, Research, and Treatment) focuses on improving the mental and physical well-being of children and adolescents affected by chronic pain, mental health conditions, and substance use disorders. Led by researchers within the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, the lab studies how genetic, psychological, behavioral, social, and environmental factors influence pediatric health outcomes and treatment responses. By combining clinical research with innovative digital health technologies such as smartphones, wearable devices, and real-world behavioral data collection, the DART Lab develops new approaches to assessment, intervention, and personalized care outside of traditional clinical settings. Through cutting-edge translational research and collaboration across Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, the lab aims to advance more effective, data-driven treatments that improve long-term health and quality of life for children and adolescents.
