After consulting a different doctor for my neck pain and arms numbness I was really sad because I was not getting answers and I thought that I would have to go through that for a longer period of time. But Doctor Smith took my concerns seriously and took care of my problem. Him and his staff did everything possible to give me relief and after having surgery I couldn't be more happy. I got my life back.

My has been great from my first visit. When reviewing my test results Dr. Smith spent as much time needed for my husband and I to understand the results. He offered options did not immediately tell me "you need surgery." Of course, because of my conditions surgery was the only option.

The day of the surgery Dr. Smith took time to review one more time with my husband and I the procedure. After the surgery I called him and he immediately returned my call. Dr. Smith is a blessing who has taken away my horrible pain I have been suffering for over 13 years. May God Bless you Dr. Smith, so you can continue to bring relief and happiness to many.

The staff is also friendly and helpful.

Dr. Smith is an excellent surgeon. I needed to have an emergency back surgery (lower lumbar fusion), and Dr. Smith was there every step of the way. He kept my family and my primary doctor informed before, during and after surgery. He made himself available. He visited me at the hospital, and he made me feel at ease. He also provided great care after surgery, and it is remarkable how far I have come at the age of 67. To illustrate how grateful we are to Dr. Smith, it was through a post follow up test that a tumor was detected in my lung. Thank God it was in stage 1, and five months later I was having another major surgery to remove the tumor. But I am blessed to be here and recommend Dr. Smith. We wholeheartedly thank Dr. Smith and his staff for their care, and for taking away the pain. May God bless you.

This surgery changed my life! I was having daily severe neck pain and headaches and couldn't even function. Immediately upon waking up from surgery, the pain was gone. “The absolute best back doctor I've ever visited”

I've lived with severe lower back pain for many years after my 27 years of military service. I came to Dr Smith and he told me about a procedure he could do to fix my back. I was skeptical because I'd seen many doctors and therapist and nothing they did help but after praying about it I decided to have to surgery. I am two weeks after my surgery and my lower back feels amazing, for the first time in decades my back doesn't hurt. Dr Smith is incredible and the only doctor that was able to fix my back. Surgery was like clockwork. The appropriate people carried out the necessary steps from the surgical team, to the hospital , to the OT and PT personnel. They knew exactly what I needed and therefore, made my first surgical experience PHENOMENAL.

One key item is that I could text Dr. Smith anytime and get my questions answered. Just think of conversing with an expert when you need it...no assistant, no staff, no one...It is Dr. Smith only. He answered faster than my family and friends, and that is saying something!

I am very satisfied and happy!!!

I came is with pain of the lower lumbar, after the 8 weeks post surgery the pain is gone. I was taken good care of and home therapy. I listened to all instructions and wound care doctor gave me. I am walking fine with no pain and no assisted devise ie. cane.

I highly recommend Dr. Smith. Straight forward of his action plan for me. What to expect, what the action plan is for my recovery, What he sees in the future for my recovery. It just took me to be motivated to move. That is the key he said so may times, Move, don't stay idle after surgery, Yes, there is pain after surgery but moving, walking is the key to a faster recovery. “Excellent Doctor and Excellent Experience”

Dr. Smith performed an ACDF at the C5, 6, and 7 area. I was extremely nervous about doing it, especially during Covid. I texted him with a lot of questions, before and after the surgery; he always answered. I am so happy I got it done. The intense and constant pain I had in my neck is gone, the pain in my arm is almost gone and is getting better every day. I am moving and extremely active and I often forget, I had this surgery less than a year ago. I had many different medical professionals ask me who did the surgery and every time they heard it was Dr. Smith, they would say he is the best in El Paso. I do agree! Seeing the X-Ray months later, it is still showing progress with clear definition that the surgery was done with expertise. He is a very nice man and very easy to talk to. After 30 some years of dealing with this pain, I finally have relief!

“On My Way Back to Normal”

After PT and pain management treatments were not effective in relieving my back pain, I consulted with Dr. Smith along with two neurosurgeons to explore surgical options. Though I felt that any of the three would do a competent job, Dr. Smith went out of his way to support me in my decision-making process. He was very responsive when I had questions. I compared his minimally-invasive approach to the traditional open surgery the other two were proposing, and the result has been amazing. At my 2-week post-op follow-up, I have still some soreness as expected but by and large I am back to "light duty" around the house, taking walks, etc. There are no signs of the pain I had prior to the surgery, and as the discomfort from surgery fades, I look forward to returning to doing the things that my pain was preventing me from doing.

“I'm glad I had my surgery because now I am not in pain.”

Before getting my surgery, I was always in pain to the point that sometimes if I bent over to pick up an object, I wouldn't be able to get back up. Once I saw doctor Smith and he explained what was wrong and what needed to be done, I went ahead with the surgery and it has been such a difference. Doctor Smith explained the procedure in detail and after my surgery I was very relieved of the pain which I had before the surgery. Dr. Smith answered all my questions in detail before and after the surgery. No matter how busy he was, when I had questions about anything I was feeling after my surgery, he would answer my question right away. Thank you Dr smith and staff for being so considerate, professional, and courteous.

“Totally pleased with my care from this staff and doctor.”

First, from my first appointment with Dr. Smith he listened to my concerns. He gathered information from my previous records, current x-rays and listening to my past/present experiences. I was so pleased that he never pushed for surgery as that was my last choice yet never stated it. After there was no other option he suggested that it was time for surgery. He spoke to my daughters before the surgery in length and made them feel at ease about his expertise. The surgery went well and each follow up visit with Dr. Smith was as comfortable as my first. I thank Dr. Smith for giving me back the overall physical ability to do everything I used to do before. He and his staff have been so kind, professional and have made themselves available for any questions/concerns I had. Finally, I must add that I missed my recent appointment due to my own fault and both the staff and Dr. Smith adjusted their schedule to see me (who does that now days)! Rebecca T. Orozco
