Personal, compassionate care close to home for the residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe County and surrounding communities — that’s what we deliver. The highly trained staff at our acute-care facility represent more than 20 medical specialties, so you and your family are covered for a wide range of services.
We offer specialty programs including comprehensive rehabilitation services, a birthing center, outpatient clinics and more. We are especially proud of our onsite cancer center that provides chemotherapy and infusion services in a modern, comfortable facility.
ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital has a proud history of active community involvement. Watch for our participation in health fairs, screenings and annual events like Pink Power and Heart Truth.
It’s important to start prenatal care early – ideally before you even get pregnant – because your health directly affects the health of your baby. Your body will go through many changes during pregnancy. Routine medical visits and testing will help guide you through the process.
Like all ECU Health hospitals and facilities, we are patient- and family-centered—which means we recognize what an important role loved ones play in the healing process. Please help us keep visits safe and comfortable for everyone by following these guidelines:

Our aquatic/swimming classes are open to everyone for a monthly fee, including those who want to keep exercising in the pool after finishing therapy. These classes include stretching, moving your body in useful ways, and light exercise to give you a good workout in the water. If you have arthritis, fibromyalgia, or similar diseases, exercising in warm water might be helpful for you.
