“Love the Dentist but the staff is a nightmare”
Came in for a 2nd option. First dentist gave a list of issues with a total of $5700. Dr. Blum offered to do the same work (and insurance was taken into account at each office) for $2300. Just like with anything in life, you get what you pay for. I love Dr. Blum, he is competent and seems to do a great job. He is not quick but very detail oriented, which led to a 4 hour visit (because the brand new assistant assured me I could have the work done in 2 visits instead of the suggested 4). That was too long in an uncomfortable chair, with my mouth propped open. I was in so much agony from the entire process, I was actually crying at the 3:45 mark when the new assistant could not make a temp crown (took her 3 times). They made sure to get their full payment before I left. I had the follow up appt scheduled for yesterday at 12:40. They sent me a text telling me it had been moved to 12:20 so they could close their office early. I called to see if I could get in on Monday instead as this time was really tight in my schedule. I was told by the brand new desk person in-training that Monday was full but they had time the following Thursday. I said I would keep the original appt and just make it work. I then get an text shortly after that telling me I would have to come at noon to ensure they had enough time since they were closing early. I drove all the way over from the Plaza only to be told there was a misunderstanding, the new girl thought I cancelled. I was furious, especially when the new girl stood up and gave a horrible attitude and told me it was my problem that a crown broke and I needed the appointment that day. I left then they called me 30 minutes later to tell me they found a spot for me and if I came right over they could fit me in. I asked to have my crowns sent to another dentist. A few days after the original temporary crowns were put in, one did break thanks to the poor work of the new assistant. I requested an experienced assistant when I went for the first repair, and really was impressed with her. This appointment was why I even considered staying with the dentist. So as good as he is, and the experience assistant is, I cannot recommend based on the performance of the new staff. Guess if I had paid the other dentist the higher price, they would have been able to have a better staff since it would be better pay. I hope Dr. Blum starts over again, I would be happy to pay more to have better service.
