Very thorough in explaining and showing me what was going on with my spine, his diagnosis and referring me to other doctors as needed.
Love that he tries other avenues than just surgery.
He is a very caring and concerned. I have been seeing him since 2016 and wouldn’t even consider seeing another Dr. I have referred my family and friends to him who have been very pleased
with him as well.

I had given up hope of having a normal life and not being in a wheel chair. This was my sixth back surgery and required rods from shoulder blade area to sacrum. Dr. Gum removed existing rods, removed scar tissue from nerves, and rebuilt my back. I am now exercising on my bike, babysitting my grandchildren, and teaching a bible study. I am taking minimal pain meds. He is a highly skilled and compassionate man. I would highly recommend this physician. He is a miracle worker and he gave me my life back.

An outstanding visit as usual. Dr. Gum always explains in the proper level of detail and discusses courses of action with me and achieves buy-in to the plan. He is never dictatorial. Being a surgeon, Dr. Gum may discuss surgical options but he never pushes surgery. Dr. Gum respects the fact that this is my body and with his outstanding expertise, we will both decide when the time is right for surgery. Moreover, he is very supportive in exploring non-surgical avenues. This visit he adroitly diagnosed my symptoms as most probably non-cervical spine related and referred me to the appropriate specialist. I can always count on Dr. Gum for straight talk without condescension. He my surgeon of choice for any spine surgery and would highly recommend Dr Gum to anyone without hesitation.

Great experience. Dr. Gum is a consummate professional. A genius in spine-care. My time with the Leatherman Spine Center and in hospital at Norton’s was very good. Such amazing care from all the nurses, surgeons, medical assistants, and the hospital is very clean. During a pandemic I was worried about going for surgery, but my worries were allieved by all the staff, also at his medical office on Angie’s Way. So glad Dr. Klegg referred me to Dr. Gum!
