Dr. Stuart Kushner, who talked very fast and I teased him about being from New York and he was!... He was extremely nice and allowed me to discuss my situation and he was very interested in what I had to say. I came in for a second opinion and he won me over!! I chose him.

The doctor moved very quickly and while extremely knowledgeable, operated in what felt like an old school, "I know what's best for you," let me distract you from what's going to happen right now, then walk away without providing you answers to your questions, type of way. As the cortisone shot was being prepared, the doctor and nurse distracted me with questions unrelated to the visit, and then all the sudden said ok we're giving you a cortisone shot, no ask for consent, and no explanation of what this does, how it will feel, what side effects might occur, and very little information on how to operate until the next appointment. It's one thing to say, it actually will work really well, once the tingles wear off, give it 3-7 days and you'll start to see more mobility and movement. But it's another thing to say "no" to my questions, and we'll see you in four weeks.I'm glad the treatment is working and this doctor clearly knows what he's doing, but I also wish I had been guided through it and had my consent given so it didn't feel like I was coerced into a treatment. This felt very 1950's style of care and lack of interest in listening to a female patient, and was concerning.

Although I'm going through with the procedure, I didn't feel the doctor was interested in hearing that I don't want Propofol for a minor finger procedure. He just assumed that I would want to be unconscious. All subsequent paperwork and interaction has been based on that assumption, although it's not what I'm planning.
