“Unfortunately, what I learned fr...”
Unfortunately, what I learned from this appointment is that I prefer a provider with a bit more aggressive approach when it comes to treatment of a 10 month old with a respiratory illness. When I tried to bring up my concerns, I felt as though the provider talked over me. I was told to take him home with supportive care and to make an appointment for the next day as follow up. I truly didn't understand that, and why his Illness couldn't be addressed at the visit. My son was diagnosed with RSV and I ended up taking him to an outside provider for help and was prescribed steroids. The outside provider told me that steroids in infants are the standard of care and reduce ER visits by 50%. I was frustrated I didnt recieved that same standard of care within this visit. I also was frustrated to read the clinical notes. The provider made references to his abdomen, neck, etc. But other than looking in his ears, and nose she didnt place her hands on him. Lastly regarding hand hygiene, she walked In/out of the exam room never removing her gloves. She touching the door handle, counter, computer and her cell phone with the gloves on and then swabbed my child for Flu, RSV, COVID and strep.
