In February of 2009 I had ruptured a disc in my back, was in excruciating pain, and getting nowhere with my doctors in North Carolina. Dr. Hnilica came VERY highly recommended and at the time was practicing in Columbus, Ohio (my home town). In April of 2009 I flew up to have a consult with him. Had L4, L5, S1 Fusion. Experienced continued lower lumbar pain to date (1 yr later). A major problem I have is that he did not tell me of his plans to move out of state until the day after surgery while on a hospital bed. Now with continued problems new drs want to remove all his work & redo (a mylagram 6mos after surgery shows problems between L3 & L4) He should have done a mylagram first (according to several other surgeons).
