“As previously mentioned, I went ...”
As previously mentioned, I went into this appointment having been given critically Incomplete information (by an entirely different physician). I assume Dr. VanderWalde assumed I had already been informed of the diagnosis she was there to speak to me about, so she really had to do some slightly heavy lifting, given this was entirely new information to me--and pretty jarring. I cannot speak highly enough of her demeanor and patience during this visit. She was calm and steady and she seemed sympathetic without being overly emotional or coddling which, for me, was perfect. She set the tone in a way I very much needed--this is serious and it sucks to hear, but you'll be fine and it could be a lot worse...basically. The only reason I didn't give a "5" for recommending her is solely because I have only had one visit and, truth be told, because of the nature of the visit, I'm pretty sure my memory of it isn't entirely clear. I suspect after another visit or two, I'll feel confident bumping that up to a 5.
