Dr. Obadiah is always efficient, but there are a few allergies on my chart that we did not talk about that. I have no clue why they're in there and what they are so if somebody can reach out to me via phone so we can discuss that that would be great

The only problem with dermatology is that it is difficult to get an appointment for the first time. It took a year. Now that I am established I hope to be able to schedule the freezing of seborrheic keratoses and actinic keratoses as needed.

While Dr. Obadiah was able to di...

While Dr. Obadiah was able to diagnose my problem and write prescriptions for treatment, he seemed very rushed and had no interest in addressing the psychological aspect of my diagnosis. He stated that it wasn't as if I had something worse like cancer. This was both highly insensitive and unhelpful. Just because in the larger scheme of things my condition wasn't life-threatening and was mild or minor compared to other patient diseases doesn't mean it wouldn't potentially have a big impact on my life. I was scared and on the verge of tears as this was a brand-new health issue for me with the potential to greatly affect my life, particularly my ability to be around other people and socialize. I had seen photos and read stories of others with my condition on social media that were very scary. I was truly terrified over what could happen to my skin especially my face. I desperately needed compassion, reassurance, and hope. I tried to express my fears and I was clearly upset. He just seemed rushed and had absolutely zero interest in really listening, explaining, or even acknowledging the impact of this diagnosis on me. I felt like a fly to be batted away so he could get out of the room. I spent the next several days in a dark devastated place and continue to struggle with a grieving process. I am slowly coming to grips with the diagnosis but it might not have been this psychologically painful had I received more compassionate care. I would hope he doesn't treat all of his patients this way and I hope he can receive additional training on consideration of the emotional impact of a medical diagnosis like this, how to speak and listen compassionately. The psychological well being of a patient is just as important as the physical.
