Dr. Katai performed a Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) of several thyroid nodules. He immediately sensed my heightened anxiety and put me at ease by taking my hand, making eye contact, and calmly explaining what would be happening. He talked to me the entire time, was swift, thorough, apologetic when the numbing needles caused discomfort or pain, patient to make sure I was numb and encouraging. It was a tense experience for me, as most biopsies bring with them a lot of stress; but Dr. Katai and his staff were excellent at remaining calm and doing everything they could to alleviate my stress level. They allowed my husband to stay in the room with me so that I could hold his hand to help lower my stress level. I asked around and numerous sources, including my own PCP said that he is the man to do the biopsy, as he does them all day, every day and that's the guy you want sticking a needle in you (or in my case, dozens of needles). I would highly recommend him and his staff at the Atrium any time to any one. [note: the only reason some of these stars are blank is b/c they do not apply within the hospital setting or have not occurred.]
