Dr. Obi, I wanted to send YOU a personal follow-up from OUR appointment today. I say "our appointment" because I appreciate you allowing me to have frank dialogue and input into my plan of care. I thank you for painstakingly reviewing my CT scans since 2019 to demonstrate the stability of a "wayward nodule" that has been present without significant change. I was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoidosis in March 1986, which was confirmed by transbronchial biopsy. I was quite ill at the time but remained fairly stable after a year's long course of oral steroids and close follow-up. When we met in 2019 you impressed me with your knowledge concerning sarcoidosis and your in-depth history taking. Some would say, "that's what every provider does". That may be so, however, you have treated me as an INDIVIDUAL with sarcoidosis and not a statistic. Thank you for being the attentive professional who knows how to "put your foot down" with a sometimes stubborn patient. I appreciate the time you take in helping me to understand the course of action needed in managing a chronic condition like sarcoidosis. I have watched several friends have less than optimal outcomes with the diagnosis. Don't ever change! Kind regards
