I actually had x-rays, and met with Dr Byrd & his PA Kyle.. regarding a recent knee injury after a hip replacement earlier this year.. I was concerned and was readily reassured that the injury was not detrimental to my 8 year old hip replacement ( Dr Ray Payne) or the 8 month hip replacement ( Dr Byrd).. and received immediate relief with a steroid injection and a huge sigh of relief.. the office personnel at the SPA location are top notch as well...

Dr. Byrd displayed good judgement in that I expressed the desire for both knees to be done simultaneously. In retrospect, that would have been a mistake, at least for me. Did the 1st one & ultimately waited 6 months to do the 2nd one. Looking back, I needed the recovery time. It was the right call. After the 2nd knee, which was a revision, I wanted to go home that night as usual. Instead, I spent 2 nights in hospital. Again, the right call, looking back on it. The 2nd knee was more painful & problematic at first, being a revision, and being pain managed & supervised in hospital for that 2 nights was the right call for me. 7months out on one & 8wks on the other, all is well.

He is very fast during appointments but he listened and was on point. Only issue I have is I have an anxiety/ panic disorder due to PTSD and it takeS long for info to register. Dr. Byrd explained the X-ray very well and my options for treatment. He was confident about the plan for surgery and even gave accurate information about Medicare and details about the procedure. I took home lots of information which explained everything I needed to know. I was assigned a case manager, Melissa. She contacted me early and was a very helpful person as I prepared for surgery. I had some difficulties getting cleared for surgery by my PCP and she gave good advice that helped me through these potential roadblocks.

I had TKR on May 1, 2023 performed by Dr William Byrd. The first week I was in pain badly and he called my daughter back after hours to see what was wrong and told us it was okay to increase pain medication at that time and very helpful and concerned. At my checkup, he was very pleased with my progress and told me ‘ditch the cane’ and said I really didn’t need it. He is very personable and easy to talk with. Would recommend it to other people if ever asked.

Check in was very easy and fast. Seeing the nurse and X-rays were promptly performed and I didn’t have to wait a long time to see the doctor. He listened to me, explained what he saw on the X-rays, and told me what we could do. I received my two shot’s quickly and with surprisingly little pain and I was out the door. Overall a very good medical visit.

I really can't remember but I believe this is the doctor that I seen. I was very comfortable with him I was very comfortable with the people who took the x-rays of my knees. The receptionist that waited on me in the waiting area was very nice I couldn't pronounce or spell all the medicines that I take everyday and I had it on my cell phone and she took my cell phone and she wrote it down on the form that I had to fill out for my first initially visit. It was such a pleasure for my first visit my grandson also goes there when he had trouble with his knee and that's how I got to go they recommend this orthopedic to me. Everything was explained to me perfectly and I definitely would recommend them to any of my friends.

Total knee replacement seemed to go quite well. This was certainly Not the horror story one has come to expect, listening to others tell tales about their total knee replacement. Mine was far more of a non event, for me at least.

I have been going to AOS for 11/2 yrs now and I am always pleased of the care I get from there. Dr Byrd did my partial bee replacement and did a great job I have to get shoulder replacement surgery done in less than 2 maths by another dr. Hopefully things will go as well.
