Putting your best feet forward

Take good care of your feet and they will carry you far.  Left untreated, foot problems could interfere with your ability to do even the most basic things like walking up stairs or down the street. If pain alters the way you walk, it can lead to pain in your knees, hips and back as well. These problems can multiply, limiting your activity and affecting your quality of life.

Studies have found links between bacteria and some cases of chronic back pain

Researchers’ hypothesize  that chronic back pain from herniated discs, where the soft inner cartilage between the vertebral bones in the spine bulges out through the tougher outer coat, is prolonged by bacterial infection. MRI scans show swelling of the vertebrae and disruptions to the architecture of the bone  could cause chronic pain.   Those given a 100-day course of antibiotics experienced less pain, slept better and could move more freely on their final follow-up (one year later) compared to subjects who had been given placebos.

A Calcium Primer for men. FYI

Calcium is important for bone and general health–and most of us don’t get enough of it. Ideally, we’d get what we need from food. If that’s not possible, supplements are available–but we can’t say confidently that these are 100% safe for everyone or that they are a fix for fragile bones.
